Tour of Britain 2024 Route + results stage 2: Darlington - Redcar

Wednesday 4 September - The Tour of Britain crosses from Scotland into England for the 2nd stage, a race in the Tees Valley. The riders set off from Darlington and the finish is on the seafront in Redcar. Taking in an elevation gain of 2,594 metres. the race totals 152.1 kilometres.

The riders clip into their pedals in Darlington and face a route through the Tees Valley and North York Moors National Park. The Saltburn Bank ascent – where Ethan Hayter outclimbed Max Walker and Lewis Askey in the finale of the British National Road Race Championship – is included twice, as it features in a loop just before the finish.

The route includes three KOM ascents – Ugglebarnby Moor, Raw Pasture Bank, and Lythe Bank, all of which between 80 and 50 kilometres from the finish line.

Finishing venue Redcar hosted a stage finish during the 2022 Tour of Britain. Gonzalo Serrano outgunned his fellow attackers Tom Pidcock, Dylan Teuns, and Omar Fraile later that day in Helmley. That victory set the Spaniard up for the GC win in 2022, as the race was shortened by three stages following the passing of Queen Elizabeth.
