Race report
Casper Pedersen is the first attacker of the day. Johan Jacobs, Samuele Battistella and Liam Walsh get across to him to form the breakaway. The four open a gap of a little over 3 minutes before the first attacker, Pedersen, is also the last to be reeled in, with 23 kilometres left to race.

Chris Harper and Oscar Onley attack with 2 kilometres to go on Willunga Hill. They are caught and then there are several attacks that don’t bear fruit either.

Simon Yates enters the last 500 metres with Stephen Williams, Oscar Onley, Jhonatan Narváez, Bart Lemmen, Julian Alaphilippe, Valentin Paret-Peintre, Isaac Del Toro and Damien Howson on his wheel.

Alaphilippe tries to sneak away, but he is chased back by Onley, Williams and Narváez. Onley sprints to the win ahead of the other two, while Alaphilippe finishes 3 seconds later in a group with Yates and Lemmen.

Williams takes the ochre jersey, although Onley sits in second place with the exact same time.
