Race report
Luke Burns attacks attack shortly after the start and Jardi Christiaan van der Lee is quick to follow his move. The two put approximately 7 minutes into the rest of the field before they are reeled in with 20 kilometres remaining.
Jhonatan Narváez, Julian Alaphilippe and Luke Plapp attack from the peloton on Fox Creek Road. While the other two push on, the former world Champion loses contact. Plapp and Narváez reach the summit 10 seconds ahead of the first chasers.
The attackers are caught by the main group with 5 kilometres to go before Quin Simmons and Bastien Tronchon jump clear inside the last 3 kilometres. Just before the flamme rouge the attack is neutralised.
Isaac Del Toro is next to try. He opens a gap in the last kilometres and holds off the charging pack. The 20-year old is the new leader on GC.
