Race report
It’s raining cats and dogs in Switzerland, but the riders go for it. Lieuwe Westra, Stefan Küng, Anton Vorobyev and Bert-Jan Lindeman attack early on, while Jan Bakelants and Kochetkov bridge the gap. The six race to a 6 minutes gain with 36 km’s done en there it lingers.
Westra and Vorobyev are the first to be dropped and with the gap shrinking Küng goes solo with 25 km’s left. He crests the last climb with a 2 minutes gain and in the gradual descent the young Swiss rider powers to victory.
Tony Martin attacks, but it’s too late and he finishes fourth, right behind two other survivors of the early break – Bakelants and Lindeman.
