Tour de France Femmes 2025 Route + results stage 8: Chambéry - Col de la Madeleine
The riders climb from the start. The Col de Plainpalais, with its 13.2 kilometres at a 6.3% gradient, makes it crystal clear that they are in for a hard day in the saddle.
The Col du Frêne – 2.4 kilometers at 5.5% – is the only real obstacle over the following 31 kilometres. The road then goes downhill to Châteauneuf, where the road climbs gently for 1.5 kilometers at 6%.
After Châteauneuf, the Tour follows the Arc River for about 10 kilometres before hitting the Côte de Saint-Georges-d’Hurtières. This is a 4.8-kilometre test with a 5.9% gradient. At the summit, there are still 38.1 kilometers left to race.
The riders descend to Saint-Pierre-de-Belleville, and enter the calm before the storm. Shortly after moving through the village of La Chambre, the Col de la Madeleine begins. It's a steady 18.6-kilometer climb with an average gradient of 8.1%. The fourth, fifth, and ninth kilometers are the toughest, with gradients of 9%, 10%, and 9.5%, respectively.
