The Côte de Durtol is a 1.7 kilometres climb at 7.2% with its summit 9 kilometres before the finish line. It’s the steepest ramp of the day. The rest of the route is flat to undulating.
The first 40 kilometres are as flat as can be, while the route becomes slightly more sloping after that. Especially after the 8 kilometres climb at 3% to Saint-Hippolyte, which is reached with 30 kilometres to go, the route continues to go up and down at shallow gradients.
The Côte de Durtol is expected to be crucial. The pilots then fly down a 6 kilometres drop to 2.5 kilometres on the flat before the last 500 metres go up at 3.6%.
