Race report
Thomas Gachignard launches the first attack, and when Rémi Cavagna rides across to him, the two of them put the peloton 2 minutes down. Jakub Otruba tracks the two down and the gap wides to 3 minutes.

The breakaway initiator, Gachignard, calls it a day halfway through and waits for the peloton. Later, Otruba also decides he's had enough.

Cavagna is riding around 3 minutes ahead of the peloton when the pack splits into echelons inside the last 50 kilometres. Race leader Jorgenson and second-placed Lipowitz are in the first group, third-placed Almeida is not. Mads Pedersen is the only sprinter in the first group.

They gobble up the lone attacker, with the second group chasing at over 1 minute, and the gap widens gradually.

Matteo Jorgenson wins the intermediate sprint in Lançon-Provence ahead of Mattias Skjelmose and Florian Lipowitz, extending his lead with the time bonus.

As the chase group does not come back into play, Mads Pdersen is the big aourite o the steg win. He opens the spint early, but Joshua Tarling doesn't give up and almost makes it. The Dane comes out on top, though, but it's by the smallest of margins.

Jorgenson retains the yellow jersey, 40 seconds ahead of Lipowitz and 59 seconds ahead of the new third-placed rider, Skjelmose.
