Paris-Nice 2025 Route stage 2: Montesson - Bellegarde

Paris-Nice 2025Monday, 10 March - Stage 2 of Paris-Nice has bunch sprint written all over it. Apart from a few insignificant climbs early on, the 183.9-kilometre route is as flat as they come. Echelons, that's really the one thing that could upset the sprinters’ plans.

Last year’s 2nd stage was similar. Dutchman Arvid de Kleijn grabbed the opportunity to claim his first-ever WorldTour win, outsprinting Laurence Pithie and Dylan Groenewegen to the line.

The route features two 3rd-category climbs in the first 55 kilometres. The Côte de Mesnuls is 1.2 kilometres at 5.7%, while the Côte de la Villeneuve is a 1.5-kilometre at 5%. After that, it’s smooth sailing on mostly flat roads.

The intermediate sprint comes as the riders enter a final lap of 20.3 kilometres. It’s the perfect opportunity to scope out the finish, as the intermediate sprint and finish line are in the exact same spot.

The last time Paris-Nice visited Bellegarde was back in 2019, and it (also) ended in a sprint. That day, Dylan Groenewegen edged out Iván García and Philippe Gilbert to take the win.

The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint offers 6, 4 and 2 seconds.
