Race report
Jonas Rutsch and Mathieu Burgaudeau, who were battling it out for the polka dot jersey in stage 1, attack from the gun. The German outsprints the Frenchman at the Côte des Mesnuls to extend his KOM lead before the two sit up and wait for the peloton.
Pascal Eenkhoorn attacks with almost 25 kilometres to go. He opens up a gap of over 2 minutes, but then decides against his attack and waits for the peloton.
The peloton remains bunched before Burgaudeau wins the KOM sprint at the Côte de Villeconin, with which he takes the KOM lead. Thereafter the peloton continues as before – bunched.
Only one moment stands out – Skjelmose wins a time bonus of 2 seconds – before the race comes down to a bunch sprint in Montargis. Arvid de Kleijn finishes off a strong team performance by Tudor and he sprints to a commanding victory. Laurence Pithie finishes in second to take the yellow jersey.
