Not all the fast men are likely to still be in the race when the Giro concludes with a criterium in the Italian capital. Illness, those brutal mountains, crashes… there are countless reasons why the peloton may have been whittled down by the time the final stage comes around.

But let’s hope most of the sprinters are still there. And that we get a fitting finale on the Via del Circo Massimo in Rome.
