Race report
Edoardo Affini and Thomas Champion are the first attackers, while Tim van Dijke bridges across. The three open up a lead of over 2 minutes, and that’s all they get.
When the trio reaches the Adriatic Sea, the gap has fallen to 1 minute, and they are caught just before the last intermediate sprint, where Geraint Thomas gains 2 seconds.
In the ensuing bunch sprint, it is Jonathan Milan who powers to a dominant triumph. Tim Merlier finishes in second, but he is relegated afterwards, and Kaden Groves moves up to second place. Tadej Pogacar finishes safely in the pack to extend his lead on GC
