Eneco Tour 2015 Route stage 1: Bolsward - Bolsward

Monday, August 10, 2015 - The Eneco Tour is set to to start in the far north of the Netherlands. Stage 1 leads in 183.5 kilometres from Bolsward to Bolsward. After two big rounds through the Frisian fields a local circuit of 20 kilometres closes the stage.

Nine years ago, the Eneco Tour visited Friesland for the last time and since then the Eneco Tour was battled out in the south of the Netherlands and in Belgium. Back then, Tom Boonen won the stage.

After leaving Bolsward for the first time the riders are off for a northern lap in 46.5 kilometres, taking them through Bolsward, Franeker and Harlingen. Following the first passage in Bolsward the riders head for Gaasterland, a typical Dutch landscape with water, fields, cliffs and forests. The second lap is 96.6 kilometres and takes the pack through Sneek, IJlst, Sloten, Stavoren, Hindeloopen and Workum. Sloten is with less than 800 inhabitants one of the smallest cities in the Netherlands.

The third passage in Bolsward is followed by two local rounds of 20.2 kilometres in and around Bolsward. A bunch sprint is the most likely outcome.
