E3 Saxo Classic 2024
Mathieu van der Poel won the 66th edition E3 Saxo Classic with a long-range solo attack. He was flanked on the podium by Jasper Stuyven and Wout van Aert. The race, which added up to 207.6 kilometres and took in 17 'hellingen', took place on Friday 22 March 2024.

Van der Poel crowns long-range solo attack
While Mathieu van der Poel strikes the the base of Paterberg, his main rival Wout van Aert hits the deck. The World Champon reaches the summit 30 seconds earlier and the rest of the race is a chasing game. Van Aert closes in at first, but then the gap goes out again and Van der Poel wins the E3 Saxo Classic for the first time in his career.

The route of the E3 Saxo Classic is similar to the Tour of Flanders, only shorter. So small wonder the race has often been nicknamed 'The Little Tour of Flanders'. Obviously, the major contenders to win the races overlap.
