The route of the individual time trial in Bergen is tailor made for Giro-winner Tom Dumoulin and also for Tour de France-winner Chris Froome, although Primoz Roglic and Rohan Dennis are forces to be reckoned with, too. These three specialists are not afraid of an occasional climb or punchy ramp, which is something else for the likes of Tony Martin and Vasil Kiryienka.
Before tackling the punchy closing climb up Fløyen the route of the ITT runs on rolling roads. Too modest to call them proper climbs, yet the stretches go up at gradients of 3 to 4%, so the course is pretty toilsome. Furthermore, the ITT takes in around 1.2 kilometre of pavé.
As not all riders are confirmed, underneath list offers merely and indication of the major contenders to win the rainbow jersey
