Well, Visma | Lease a Bike, for one. With Brennan in their ranks, they have the fastest sprinter of the Vuelta peloton. That also means they may well have to do all the chasing themselves. So Van Aert or Laporte could consider getting into the breakaway and fighting for the win that way.

The opening phase is fairly hilly. The climbs are by no means overly difficult, but the road constantly rises and falls. That changes in the second half of the 181.1-kilometre stage.

So, as mentioned, any sprinter who can climb reasonably well — which, in this Vuelta, basically means all of them — could also consider joining the breakaway and battling for the win from there.
