Race report
Wout van Aert, Mathis Le Berre and Harold Tejada attack in the run-up to the first climb, Alto de Fonfría. The three are caught on the early slopes.
Attacks keep flying until Marc Soler, Wout van Aert, and William Junior Lecerf open up a gap in the last 2 kilometres of the Fonfría. Back in the valley, Juri Hollmann and Quentin Pacher bridge across to them. Behind them the race remains heated for tens of kilometres.
The chase halts around the midway marker, and then the gap widens to over 6 minutes.
Van Aert takes the intermediate sprint and he pushes on, while Pacher rejoins him before the last climb of the day.
At the summit of the Alto de Mougas, Van Aert draws level on points with KOM leader Adam Yates. Pacher is on his wheel, while Lecerf and Soler reach the top a minute later.
Van Aert and Pacher work well together to distance the chasers before the Belgian powers to a commanding victory in Baiona.
The peloton finishes together, so the GC remains unchanged, with Ben O’Sonnor leading almost 4 minutes ahead of Primoz Roglic.
