Race report
At a high pace the pack heads for the intermediate sprint after 8 kms, where Dan Martin takes a time bonus of 1 second. Then it’s with 13 kms done Armee, Arndt, Bouwman, Courteille, Dron, King, Lammertink, Mas, Mohoric, Roglic, Siutsou, and Tsatevich manage to zip off the front. They race to a maximum lead at 3’20”.
At the Montjuic circuit Mohoric, Armée, Lammertink, Tsatevich, King, Courteille, Mas, Sivtsov and Roglic are left in the lead. Contador tries to put pressure on Quintana, but has to admit the route is not selective enough to make a difference.
In the last round Roglic and Tsatevich are the only riders left at the front. The Russian takes the sprint.
