Race report
Frank van den Broek, Ethan Hayter, Adrián Fajardo, Iker Mintegi and Joan Bou escape in the run-up to the first climb before Raúl García Pierna and Bruno Armirail jump across to make it six at the front. The attackers open up a lead of over 2 minutes.

On the climb to the Santuario de San Miguel de Aralar, with 26 kilometres remaining, Paul Seixas attacks from the peloton. He gobbles up the breakaway riders and forges on alone.

The GC leader crests the top 50 seconds ahead of the first chasers, Isaac del Toro, Primoz Roglic, Florian Lipowitz, Cian Uijtdebroeks, Ion Izagirre, Mattias Skjelmose, Alex Baudin, Ben Tulett and Clément Champoussin.

While Seixas charges unchallenged towards the stage victory, the chasing group splits in two. Later the groups merge again, but the young Frenchman could not care less. He wins the stage by 1 minute and 25 seconds.
