Rodriguez wins thriller race, Ayuso takes GC
The decisive last stage of the the Itzulia Basque Country is an atrittion race if ever there was one. Juan Ayuso strikes in the last climb from a group with yellow jersey Mattias Skjelmose. The Dane can't follow, but Carlos Rodriguez does follow Ayuso's move. The Andalucian takes the stage, while Ayuso wins the GC.

Romain Grégoire outsprints Orluis Alaur and Maximilian Schachmann in a close finish in the 5th stage of the Itzulia Basque Countru. Mattias Skjelmose stays in the lead of the general classification.

A crash in the descent of the second of four climbs takes down several riders, including pre-race favourites Remco Evenepoel, Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic. Following a neutralisation only the lead group continues the race.
