Race report
Harm Vanhoucke, Natnael Tesfatsion, Jon Barrenetxea, Alan Jousseaume and Jonathan Caicedo jump off the front in the first climb of the day. The five open up a lead of almost 7 minutes.
In the run-up to the last climb the leaders are caught. Leader Vingegaard gains a time bonus of 3 seconds in the intermediate sprint of the day.
Carapaz speeds up in the Asturiana climb before Vingegaard counter-attacks. Landa tracks him down and the two reach the summit 30 seconds ahead of the chase group.
The chaser comes closer in the last kilometres and Vingegaard keeps on pushing with Landa sitting in his wheel. The Dane opens the sprint and he is so powerful that Landa can’t match him. So the Tour de France winner takes his second stage win in two days. Landa sits in second and Gaudu in third.
