Tour of the Basque Country 2017
Alejandro Valverde won the overall in the Tour of the Basque Country ahead of Alberto Contador and Ion Izagirre. After claiming the Queen Stage to the Santuario de Arrate in Eibar he held off a Contador attack in the ensuing ITT to take his third victory in the 2017 season.

Valverde claims victory at Arrate to take overall lead
At 139.8 kilometres, the route of the 5th stage in the Tour of the Basque Country takes in six climbs. The steep closing climb up to the iconic Sanctuary of Arrate is the tonic to ignite the race. Valverde wins the sprint of a select group to claim the leaders jersey.Read more »
Solo victory Primoz Roglic, De la Cruz retains lead
Stage 4 in the Tour of the Basque Country takes in two steep ascents. The last one, Vivero, reduces the peloton with only a drop to Bilbao left. Primoz Roglic jumps clear with 3 kilometres to go and the former ski jumper soloes to victory. De la Cruz is still in the lead, albeit with the tiniest of margins.Read more »

Stage 3 in the Tour of the Basque Country travels to San Sebastián on a route with six climbs. On the last one David de la Cruz goes on the attack and he holds off the pack in the ensuing 10 kilometres descent. Victory and leaders jersey for the Spaniard.Read more »
