Tour of the Alps 2022 Route stage 2: San Martino di Castrozza – Lana
The riders climb the Passo Rolle from the start. At an elevation of 1,984 metres the Rolle marks the highest pass of this year’s race. The ascent is 20.8 kilometres long and the average gradient sits at 5.9%.
Most of the route until midway goes downwards and after crossing the Adige river - at 245 metres the lowest point on the route - the riders return to climbing on the Passo Mendola. The 15.3 kilometres ascent at 6.5% is followed by the 12.9 kilometres long Passo Palade, or Gampen Pass. The gradient of the latter sits at a modest 4.1%.
After cresting the Gampen Pass the riders plunge down into Lana to enter a flat finishing circuit of 10 kilometres.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint comes with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
