Tour Down Under 2023 Route stage 4: Port Willunga - Willunga
Finishing on High Street in Willunga, at the foot of the hill, is a break with tradition. Old Willunga Hill had been included since 2012. In fact, the last sprint finish in Willunga dates back to 2011, when Francisco Velose took the spoils ahead of Michael Matthews and Matthew Goss.
The route consist of two different laps. The first one is ridden once, the second 1.5 times. The last 2.4 kilometres rise at 2.9% to the line, so strongmen sprinters are expected to shine on this arrival.
KOM points are available twice in the passage through the finish line. The first time after 51.4 kilometres, the second time after 92.3 kilometres.
Two intermediate sprints come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds each, while the first three riders one the finish line take time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
