Race report
Rowe, Bouchard, Houle, Whelan and Kasperkiewicz establish the breakaway to race to a lead of approximately 4 minutes.
Alexis Gougeard and Jos van Emden bridge across inside the last 60 kilometres. The duo gives the break a boost, but afterwards the gap continues to fall.
The catch is made 6.5 kilometres from the line and in the ensuing bunch sprint Ballerini gets the better of Ackermann. Dainese finishes in third.
In the first pre-Giro d’Italia confrontation Remco Evenepoel outperforms Jakob Fuglsang and Simon Yates. The youngster wins his second stage-race after the COVID19-break.
