Race report
Jonas Abrahamsen, Simon Guglielmi, Nelson Oliveira and Mathieu Burgaudeau attack early on, but three of them sit up. So there is only one breakaway rider remaining, Gugliemi, who rides to a maximum lead of 7 minutes.
The gap has fallen after the intermediate sprint, which inspires Pierre Latour and Nans Peters to bridge across to Gugliemi. The orginal attacker is dropped on Côte de Béguey.
Latour and Peters open up a lead of over 1 minute, while Latour is the last attacker to be reeled in inside the last 4 kilometres
As expected, the race comes down to a bunch sprint. Star lead-out Van der Poel launches Philipsen before Cavendish overhauls him. The green jersey jumps to his wheel and finishes it off on brilliant style. Cav comes home in second, Girmay in third.
The GC remains unchanged with Vingegaard in yellow.
