Race report
Victor Campenaerts attacks from the gun. But… it’s a feint and he does not push on. The peloton rolls in photoshoot fashion into Paris before Tadej Pogacar himself strikes in Paris. Nathan Van Hooydonck follows his wheel, while Michal Kwiatkowski, Alberto Bettiol, Nils Politt, Mattias Skjelmose, Alex Edmondson, Harold Tejada and Yves Lampaert bridge across in the next lap.
The break is caught and then it’s up to Simon Clarke, Frederik Frison and Nelson Oliveira. The peloton brings the trio back in the penultimate lap.
Mathieu van der Poel leads out Jasper Philipsen, while Dylan Groenewegen sits in his wheel. He opens the sprint and Mads Pedersen comes close, but it’s Jasper Philipsen and Jordi Meeus who overhaul them in the dying metres. The latter takes the win with a brilliant jump to the line.
Jonas Vingegaard wins the Tour de France ahead of Tadej Pogacar and Adam Yates.
