Race report
Shortly after the start Armindo Fonseca attacks and he races to a lead at over 11 minutes before it starts going on the down. With 80 kms remaining the lead lingers at 5’30” when Thomas Voeckler opens the chase. In 10 kms he chases Fonseca down.

With 8 kms remaining the leaders are reeled in.

The race boils down to a bunch sprint with Mark Cavendish outsprinting André Greipel by one or two millimetres.
