Tour de France 2016: Results
The 2016 Tour de France was won by Chris Froome with Romain Bardet finishing in second and Nairo Quintana in third. Mark Cavendish was the most successful sprinter, winning four stages, while Peter Sagan took three stages plus the green jersey. Rafal Majka did win the polka dot jersey and Adam Yates finished is fourth overall, which brought him the win in the best young rider competition.

Greipel hits jackpot on Champs-Elysees, Froome wins overall
At 113 kilometres, the closing stage of the Tour de France lead from Chantilly to Parijs. With Froome in yellow, Sagan in green, Majka in the polka dot, and Yates in white, there is only one victory left: stage victory. Ion Izagirre wins rain soaked race, Froome takes GC
At 146.5 kilometres and in rainy conditions, stage 20 in the 2016 Tour de France leads over four peaks to finish downhill. At the top of the last pass, the Joux-Plane, Ion Izagirre, Vincenzo Nibali and Jarlinson Pantano are on the attack. In the 12 kilometres drop to Morzine Izagirre soloes to the first Spanish victory in La Grande Boucle, while Chris Froome takes the overall win.Read more »
Bardet solos to victory, Froome retains yellow
At 146 kilometres, stage 19 is an explosive race. The closing climb up to Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc is a 9.8 kilometres toil at 8%. Romain Bardet attacks just before hitting the climb and he soloes to victory. Chris Froome retains in yellow, while runner-up Bauke Mollema crashes and drops to 10th place overall. Bardet now sits in second and Nairo Quintana in third.Read more »
Froome takes win in mountain ITT and cements lead
At 17 kilometres, stage 18 in the Tour de France is an ITT on climbers territory. En route Côte de Domancy is toughest, a 2.5 kilometres toil at 9.4%. Chris Froome bests specialist Tom Dumoulin to take his second stage win, thus cementing his overall lead.Read more »
Zakarin solos to impressive victory, Froome cements lead
In stage 17 of the Tour de France the riders face four climbs, while the toughest are at the end of the race with one 1st category and one horse category climb in the last 35 kilometres. Ilnur Zakarin goes solo on the last climb to power to victory. Jarlinson Pantano finishes in second, KOM-leader Majka in third. Chris Froome puts time into his rivals, thus cementing his overall lead.Read more »
