Race report
No attack sticks in the first phase and the peloton is still bunched after 50 kilometres. Then Nelson Oliveira, Valentin Ferron and Clément Russo give it a go. Benjamin Thomas, Warren Barguil, Gianni Vermeersch, Jhonatan Restrepo, Davide Ballerini, Gianlucca Brambilla, Francesco Gavazzi, Vincenzo Albanese and Simone Velasco track them down with 90 kilometres remaining. They carve out a lead of approximately 4 minutes.

Barguil goes solo on the finishing circuit, while Thomas rejoins him. Another seven men come across.

Evenepoel strikes on a climb with 8 kilometres to go. Pogacar and Vingegaard go with him. Moments later they miss a right hand turn, disrupting their chase.

Barguil attacks again inside the last 3 kilometres and he forges on to victory. Meurisse crosses the line in second, Velasco in third.

Pogacar/Evenepoel/Vingegaard maintain the status quo on the double digit gradients into Fermo and they cross the line together.

Ganna disappears from the top 3 and young Arensman takes his place, now sitting in third between Evenepoel en Vingegaard, while Pogacar still leads the Race of the Two Seas.
