Ruta del Sol 2024: The Route

Juan Ayuso - Tour de Suisse 2023foto: Cor VosAs always, the Ruta del Sol - aka the Vuelta a Andalucía - presented a mountainous route in 2024. But the race was cut to the bone after farmers protests. Only an ITT of 5 kilometres remained. (Slideshow route/profile)

Following the cancellation of the first two stages, the 2024 Ruta del Sol kicked off with a short ITT . It was only 5 kilometers long before it evened out and continued in rolling fashion. The last few hundred metres was a cobbled towards Alcaudete Castle.

The route would then continue with a shortened stage on a hilly circuit around Lucena, but that one was cancelled, lust like the original last stage. So, the 2024 edition of the Ruta del Sol was just 5 kilometres long.
