Race report
David de la Cruz, Ethan Hayter and Domen Novak are the first attackers and when Sinuhé Fernández bridges across the quartet build a lead of 1 minute and 30 seconds. That's it.

With echelons threatening to form, the pace picks up in the peloton, and the breakaway is swallowed with roughly 90 kilometres to go.

Once the peloton settles down, Hayter has another go, this time with Larry Warbasse. The Brit picks up 20 points at the intermediate sprint before the pair are reeled back in.

On the only climb of the day, Pinarello Q36.5 tries to split the race, but the team fails to do so. It comes down to the sprinters in Lorca

In the twisting finale, Visma | Lease a Bike expertly guides their sprinter into the finishing straight. With Wout van Aert ahead of him, the young Brit is perfectly positioned and makes the most of it by sprinting to an unchallenged victory. Van Aert himself finishes fifth and extends his lead in the points classification.

There is no change in the overall classification, with Enric Mas retaining the red jersey.
