For the first time in years, the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec deviates from its usual route. The start is on Avenue George VI in the Parc des Champs-de-Bataille, with the riders first covering just over 2 kilometres through the city park. That section has always been part of the course, but whereas they used to turn left after leaving the park, this time they swing right onto Grande Allée Ouest. After a loop of roughly 2 kilometres, they rejoin the familiar circuit.
The riders descend towards the Saint Lawrence before continuing along the wide Boulevard de Champlain. They follow it for around 4 kilometres before heading into the old part of town. That section begins with the Côte de la Montagne, a 375-metre ramp with a 10% gradient.
In previous editions, the course then dipped and rose again through the city centre, but not this time. After the Côte de la Montagne, there’s a brief flattening before the road drags uphill all the way to the finish. The change makes the punch up Côte de la Montagne all the more important, as it now comes closer to the line.
From the top of the Côte de la Montagne, it is 1.2 kilometres to the finish on Avenue George VI, a section that rises at around 3%.

GPCQM, a new parcours, I’m open to have variety, I hope it creates a nice race dynamic. I think punchers will deal with more sprinters !!
