Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal 2026: Route

Sunday 13 September – The Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal is 214.4 kilometres long and features 4,304 metres of elevation gain. The race consists of 16 laps of a 13.4-kilometre circuit. There is extra spice this year, as the World Championships road race will be held on exactly the same course in two weeks’ time.

The amount of elevation gain is enough to rival a typical mountain stage of a Grand Tour, although all those vertical metres are distributed very differently from those on a mountain stage. There are no long climbs; instead, the race is a barrage of short and intense uphill efforts. Each lap features 269 metres of elevation gain.

The climbing starts just 500 metres after the start on Avenue du Parc, with the Voie Camillien-Houde. The 1.67-kilometre climb averages 7.4% and winds its way through Parc du Mont-Royal. After the descent and three sharp corners, the riders reach Chemin de Polytechnique, a 780-metre climb averaging 6%, including a 200-metre section at 11%.

After a descent featuring a few sharp bends, the riders reach the long and straight Boulevard Édouard-Montpetit. Three corners later, the road heads uphill again on Avenue Pagnuelo: 534 metres at 7.5%. Once over the top, there is a flat 500-metre section before the riders descend for 2.5 kilometres towards a gently rising finishing straight.

During the World Championships road race, the riders tackle exactly the same lap twelve times.

The Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal starts at 10:15 and is scheduled to finish around 15:45 - both local times (ET).
