Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal 2026: Del Toro outguns Seixas in sprint-à-deux

Race report
Michal Kwiatkowski and Ådne Holter get the breakaway up and running. They are joined by Casper Pedersen, Anders Foldager, Pelayo Sánchez, Robbe Dhondt, Robin Carpenter, Kieran Haug and Jérôme Gauthier, and the group builds a lead of 2 minutes. That is as much as they get, and the nine are reeled in with the race only halfway through.

Juan Ayuso then attacks and Michael Leonard goes with him, while Maximilian Schachmann bridges across later. Their lead lead never grows beyond half a minute.

On the Voie Camillien-Houde, with just over 50 kilometres to go, Adam Yates, Maxim Van Gils, Wilco Kelderman and Ben Healy bridge across to the front group.

On the penultimate ascent of the Voie Camillien-Houde, Healy accelerates and Van Gils rides across to him, later followed by Yates. In the following lap, Healy rides clear of his companions on the same climb, while Isaac del Toro, Paul Seixas, Giulio Ciccone, Tom Pidcock and Afonso Eulálio aattack from the peloton.

Remco Evenepoel is already 40 seconds behind the Seixas/Del Toro group when he sets off in pursuit. Alex Baudin goes with him. When the bell rings to signal the final lap, the Belgian has made contact. Healy still has a 14-second lead at this point.

On the second part of the Voie Camillien-Houde, Seixas surges clear of the rest. He races across to Healy and then rides straight past him. Once over the top, Del Toro rides across to the Frenchman and the pair continue to extend their lead over the chasers.

In the uphill sprint, Del Toro easily outpowers Seixas.
