Tour of the Alps 2026: Pellizzari strikes double on only summit finish

Race report

Oliver Stockwell initiates the breakaway and Dominik Röber, Mattia Bais, Mattia Gaffuri, Luca Verrando, Emenual Zianerle, Benjamin Eckerstorfer, David Paumann and Valentin Poschacher go with him. They open up a 5-minute lead.

On the final climb, only Gaffuri remains at the front. Behind him, Thymen Arensman accelerates with Michael Storer and Lorenzo Finn in his wheel. Giulio Pellizzari later bridges across to them — but only briefly, as the Italian soon jumps clear.

Pellizzari catches the last breakway rider inside the final 1.2 kilometres, while Egan Bernal replaces Storer in the chasing group. The Colombian champion immediately takes the front and brings the group up to the two attackers, with 1.3 kilometres still to go.

Behind them, they are not standing still either, and with 500 metres to the finish Aleksandr Vlasov also joins the front group. He immediately tries to attack, but Bernal shuts it down.

Pellizzari opens the sprint and celebrates the victory, although Arensman finishes strongly.
