Giro 2027 Route stage 9: Itri - Monte Livata
Published on 5 November 2027
Stage 9 unfolds in four phases, each taking the riders higher into the mountains. First comes a flat run-in, followed by a stretch of rolling plateau. After that, the third phase begins with two smaller ascents, before Monte Livata provides the grand finale.
The opening section is as straightforward as it gets: 70 kilometres of steady riding along flat roads. The next phase is roughly the same length, and while a few lumps and bumps add a little spice, the riders are getting ready for the bigger challenges ahead.
The third phase features two climbs. The ascent to Bellegra is 8 kilometres long, averaging 6.2%. The Colle Ferro follows soon afterwards, adding 4.5 kilometres at 6% to the mix.
Then comes the grand finale: Monte Livata, a 14-kilometre climb averaging 6.9%, with maximum gradients of up to 17% on the lower slopes. The first 4 kilometres are by far the most demanding section, as the gradient eases towards the summit.
Monte Livata has never featured in the Giro d’Italia, but in 2026, the climb made its debut on the route of the Giro Next Gen. And the winner? Italian golden boy Lorenzo Finn, who also claimed overall victory in the baby Giro.
Finn steps up to the professional ranks in 2027. Is the Giro organiser hoping for a repeat performance?
