Race report
No attacks from the gun. On the contrary. The peloton takes it easy and remains bunched until Bouet strikes with almost 70 kilometres to go. Skujins and Benedetti go with him. The three open up a 40 seconds gap.
Cort jumps across to the attackers with 14 kilometres to go, shortly followed by the peloton.
In the ensuing sprint it is Cavendish who storms to a commanding victory. The Manx Missile takes his seventeenth stage win in the Giro d’Italia.
Roglic wins the GC, Almeida is the best young rider, Pinot takes the maglia azzurra and Milan the maglia ciclamino
