Race report
Amandine Fouquenet, Laura Molenaar, Lieke Nooijen, Christina Schweinberger, Julie Van de Velde and Giorgia Vettorello establish the breakaway early on. Anniina Ahtosalo raplaces and the six race to a lead of over 6 minutes.
The attackers are caught ahead of the hilly zone.
Featuring Lorena Wiebes, Lotte Kopecky, Elisa Balsamo, Pfeiffer Georgi, Elisa Longo Borghini, Silvia Persico and Puck Pieterse, a lead group of seven takes shape on the Kemmelberg. They are reeled in in the following phase, but in the last climb – again, the Kemmelberg, now on the steepest side – Kopecky, Wiebes and Georgi go again.
Five more riders bridge across and because of a lack of cooperation the peloton catches them before Ypres.
Movistar attacks in the old town – first Floortje Mackaij and then Emma Norsgaard. She is caught with 18 kilometres remaining.
Norsgaard tries again with a late attack, but she is reeled in under the 3 kilometre sign. Then Grace Brown gives it a go.
After she has been caught inside the final kilometres. It comes down to a clash of two fast women. Lorena Wiebes crosses the line a couple of millimetres ahead of Elisa Balsamo to take the win.
