Race report
It takes 19 kms for the break of the day to go clear. Five riders are off with Jean-Pierre Drucker winning the first intermediate sprint. His companions are Mark Christian, Simone Andreetta, Williams and Yousef Mirza. They race to a maximum lead of 4'24".
The second intermediate sprint is for Drucker too, which gives a total bonus of 6 seconds. After the second sprint Drucker takes it easy and reeled in. Four escapees left.
The break is history with 11 kms remaining and the race boils down with a bunch spint. For a moment it looks like young Dutchie Groenewegen is going to best Kittel, but no. The strong German powers to his second win in two days, thus cementing his overall lead. Groenewegen, who is second overall, leads the young rider classification.
