Race report
A lot of movement from the start, but the peloton is still together when Nicolas Prodhomme, Rémy Rochas and Harrison Sweeny jump away after 30 kilometres of action. That’s the right move, and the trio races to a lead of 3 minutes.
The gap has fallen to 1 minute within the last 40 kilometres, which inspires Christopher Juul-Jensen to bridge across.
Rochas is not longer on board at the front when the peloton speeds up to bring the gap down in the last 15 kilometres.
The main group gobbles up the remaining attackers with 2.6 kilometres remaining.
Krists Neilands strikes inside the last 800 metres. As soon as he is brought back, his team mate Derek Gee goes. Romain Grégoire follows the Canadian’s and he opens the sprint early. Gee gives it another dig to overhaul the Frenchman and sprint to victory. He takes the yellow jersey as a bonus.
