Brabantse Pijl 2026: Foldager wins peloton sprint

Race report
Bram Dissel, Michiel Coppens, Jonah Killy, Fabrice Lefevre, Cedrik Bakke Christophersen and Vojtech Kmínek waste no time and soon ride clear of the peloton. The six build a lead of more than 3 minutes.

Once the breakaway is caught, Sam Maisonobe and Fran Miholjević go clear, but the move doesn't last.

On the penultimate ascent of the Moskesstraat, Romain Grégoire opens a small gap and Ramses De Bruyne bridges across on the steep cobbles.

On the Holstheide, Benoît Cosnefroy opens the chase with Valentin Madouas and two other riders on his wheel. But the former winner is the only one to bridge across to the two leaders.

Anthon Charmig, Milan Lanhove and Tibor Del Grosso join the three leaders with 22 kilometres remaining, while Jelle Johannink makes it seven in the lead group just before the bell. The gap to the peloton is just 10 seconds as the leaders enter the final lap.

Lanhove drives the pace on the cobbles of the Moskesstraat, which proves too much for Johannink. One would expect it to come down to the six remaining leaders, but no, the reduced peloton comes charging back in the final 4 kilometres, and then Mauro Schmid closes the gap in the S-Bend on behalf of his team-mate Anders Foldager.

Eduard Prades launches the sprint, serving as the perfect lead-out for Foldager. The 24-year-old Dane sprints to the biggest victory of his career, comfortably beating Quinten Hermans and Benoît Cosnefroy on the line.
