World Cycling Championships 2021 Flanders: Route Mixed Relay
Wednesday 22 September - The Mixed Relay is a time trial with mixed teams. Nations enter six riders, three men and three women, and the team that crosses the line quickest after 44.5 kilometers of racing wins.
The flat course features hardly any sharp corners, so top speeds are expexted
The start is in Knokke-Heist on the Flemish North Sea coast. Each team sends off their three males riders first. The course starts out just like the ITT’s with the first 1.5 kilometres running along the water front before a sharp righthander leads inland. The route moves through Knokke-Heist’s town centre to continue to Westkapelle, Oostkerke, Dudzele and Bruges.
The effort of the male riders is 22.5 kilometres long. Once the second rider passes through the line, the three women are allowed to start. They follow the straight road along the Damse Vaart before turning left in Damme. The women enter the men’s course in Dudzele and return to Bruges.
The time will be taken on the second female rider across the line.
There are three intermediate time checks – at kilometre 14.0, at kilometre 22.5 and at kilometre 36.1.
