Vuelta Femenina 2026: Bredewold triumphs, Kopecky extends lead
fotobureau Cor VosIn the flattest stage of the Vuelta Femenina, Mischa Bredewold powers to victory. It looks as though she is leading out Lotte Kopecky, but the red jersey does not come around and instead allows her teammate to take the win. Kopecky herself finishes second to extend her GC lead.

Race report
Sara Martín, Idoia Eraso and Marina Garau initiate the breakaway before Aniek van Alphen and Alice Coutinho make it five riders out front. They build a lead of nearly 3 minutes.
In the final 30 kilometres, Martín, Eraso and Van Alphen are still up the road as a trio. Their lead is still 1 minute at that point, but it has been wiped out with 8.8 kilometres to go.
On the uphill finish, Mischa Bredewold provides the lead-out for Lotte Kopecky, but when the red jersey sees how strong she is going, she leaves a gap, allowing the Dutch rider to power to victory. Kopecky herself finishes second, with Letizia Paternoster coming home in third.
