The elevation gain over 126 kilometres does not exceed 1,000 metres, but still, it’s a challenging race for the sprinters. The reason for this is the finale in the streets of Sigüenza. The last 700 metres rise at 6.7% to the line, and the final stretch also ramps up to double digits.
The route itself is nothing special. The riders traverse a plateau at an elevation of approximately 1,000 metres above sea level. Both San Esteban de Gormaz and Sigüenza are situated over 100 kilometres to the north of Madrid.
The first three riders on the line gain times bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint comes with 6, 4 and 2 seconds.
