Vuelta 2015 Favourites stage 8: Strong sprinters or escapees?

peter saganThe first 100 kilometres of the 186.6 kilometres stage are mainly going down, while the latter part is flat with two climbs up Alto de la Cresta del Gallo. A parcours that will fancy both escapees and sprinters with a good climb. Who are the major contenders for the stage win? (Slideshow route/profile)

Nacer Bouhanni used to be a sprinter for the flat stages, but in recent years he is climbing rather well, so his team Cofidis will want to keep the pack bunched. Same story for John Degenkolb, Peter Sagan and Caleb Ewan.

Still, a lot of escapees will think differently…

Sagan and Ewan are the only sprinters who already won a stage in La Vuelta 2015.
