Tour of Qatar 2017
The 16th edition of the Tour of Qatar would have been held from Monday, 6 February 2017, to Friday, February 10 February. For the first time in history the Tour of Qatar was supposed to be part of the UCI World Tour, yet the race was cancelled due to a lack of funding.
In 2016, Alexander Kristoff won three out of five stages, but it was Mark Cavendish who took the overall. Kristoff finished in second, while Greg Van Avermaet was third.

Winners and records
The Tour of Qatar has been in existence since 2002. During the first few years, the race didn't peak the interest of the top cyclists, but this has since changed with riders seeing Qatar as ideal preparation for the classics. Former World Champions Tom Boonen and Mark Cavendish have the most stage victories with Boonen also winning the overall on four occasions.Read more »
