Tour of Oman 2014
The fifth edition of the Tour of Oman began on Tuesday, February 18th 2014 , finishing 6 stages later on Sunday the 23rd. The last of what is now three races in the Middle East, Oman will finally present an opportunity for the climbers to stretch their legs while the sprinters will fancy their chances on the opening stages. Cyclingstage.com presents the entire route, along with race reports and videos of all stages.
Oman is not a race for the vertically challenged and contains some serious climbs where riders with grand tour ambitions come out to play after the winter slumber. Tour de France champion Chris Froome won the 2013 edition with Cadel Evans and Alberto Contador providing good company on the podium. With many of Froome's July challengers attending again in 2014, expect some early warning shots fired, especially on the Queen stage up Green Mountain.

Tour of Oman 2014 Results 6th stage Greipel takes final sprint
Andre Greipel again showed his dominance in the sprints, with his Lotto-Belisol train reeling in the breakaway in the last kilometre. Chris Froome had a trouble free day in the peloton and seeled his second successive overall win in Oman.
stage win + GC lead
Stage 5 was the queen stage of this year's Tour of Oman, starting in BidBid and finishing atop Green Mountain at an altitude of 1,235 metres. Just like last year, Chris Froome proved to be the King of Green Mountain, attacking late in the stage to win ahead of Tejay van Garderen and Rigoberto Uran.
Sagan outsprints Uran and Nibali
Aascending the steep Bousher Alamrat climb three times proved too much for lone escapee Greg Van Avermaet. The big names then took over with Chris Froome putting in an attack only to be countered by Vincenzo Nibali, Rigoberto Uran and Peter Sagan with the two climbers no match for the Slovakian in the three-up sprint for the stage.
Froome attacks, Greipel wins
A rolling 145 kilometres today led to talk of possible attacks in the GC battle and Chris Froome didn't disappoint, attacking in the last 5 kilometres. But the move was shut out in the last kilometre and Andre Greipel sprinted to his second stage win of this year's race, reclaiming the leaders jersey in the process.
Kristoff takes sprint
Another flat stage, another sprint finish. After 139 kilometres of racing, Alexander Kristoff proved fastest taking stage 2 of this year's Tour of Oman.
