Tour of Flanders 2025 - women: Kopecky sprints to record victory

Race report
Franziska Brauße and Nicole Steigenga are the first to go on the offensive, with Romy Kasper, Alison Avoine, Britt de Grave, April Tacey, and Aoife O’Brien following suit. The seven put almost 7 minutes into the peloton.

Before the race has properly ignites, defending champion Elisa Longo Borghini is forced to abandon after a crash.

Steigenga is the last remaining rider from the breakaway, as she is caught on the Steenbeekdries with 39 kilometres left to race, before Lauretta Hanson and Mischa Bredewold slip away from the peloton some 5 kilometres later.

The two see Liane Lippert come alongside them on the Oude Kruisberg, while the others regain contact on the Hotond in its wake.

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot makes a move on the Oude Kwaremont. Lotte Kopecky, Liane Lippert, and Kasia Niewiadoma go with her, and the quartet reaches the summit with a 10-second lead, before doubling up on the Paterberg.

The four extend their lead in the run-in to Oudenaarde. There is only one attack, by Niewiadoma, who cramps, and then it’s Kopecky who takes control in the sprint. She wins with a comfortable lead over Ferrand-Prévot and Lippert.
