Tour Down Under 2019
In 2019, Daryl Impey defended his title to win the Tour Down Under for the second consecutive year. Richie Porte and Wout Poels rounded out the podium, while Patrick Bevin - who was leading the race for four days - crashed out of contention on the penultimate day.

Porte wins stage 6 as Impey takes GC
The final stage in the Tour Down Under leads from McLaren Vale to Willunga Hill. For the sixth year in a row Richie Porte powers to the win on Willunga Hill, but it is not enough for the overall victory. Daryl Impey trails close behind the Tasmanian to win the overall. Porte and Poels round out the podium.

Sprint victory Philipsen, Bevin crashes but retains lead
With its rolling roads and enchanting coastal surrounds, the Tour Down Under's 5th stage is a sprinter's dream. And, as it turns out, Jasper Philipsen's dream in particular. Caleb Ewan is the first rider over the line, but the Australian is relegated. Patrick Bevin wins 5 bonus seconds underway and wears the ochre jersey into the decisive Willunga Hill stage, although he is badly injured after a crash in the finale.

Impey wins ahead of Bevin, who retains GC lead
The 4th stage in the Tour Down Under comes down to the punchy Corkscrew climb and an ensuing descent to the finish line. Porte, Poels, Woods and Bennett launch an attack on the climb, but leader Bevin brings them back in the downhill. Title defender Impey wins the sprint of the reduced group ahead of Bevin, who thus retains the ochre jersey.

Sagan wins hilly 3rd stage, Bevin still leader
The Tour Down Under's 3rd stage is a hilly race with an elevation gain of 3,337 metres. Title defender Daryl Impey is the first to jump in the slighly uphill finish, but Peter Sagan responds and takes the win centimetres ahead of Luis León Sánchez, while Impey finishes third. Patrick Bevin retains the ochre jersey.

Bevin snatches 2nd stage to take GC lead
Stage 2 on the Tour Down Under is played out on flat to rolling terrain. A huge crash in the final kilometre thwarts the imminent bunch sprint and Patrick Bevin seizes the opportunity. The New Zealander powers to the win and leaders jersey.
