Shortly after the start the riders tackle the 6 kilometres climb at 5.5% to the village of Schindellegi. It’s the longest uphill sector of the day. The route goes up and down without ever becoming steep.
The finale is played out on a 50 kilometres circuit around Pfaffnau. The toughest climb is 3.6 kilometres long and averages 6.1%, while it is crested 26.7 kilometres before the finish line.
Following some uphill efforts at shallow gradients on the rest of the route the home straight in Pfaffnau is a false flat.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprints come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds each.
